About us

We are members of the Association of Private Pet Cemeteries and Crematoria and our operations follow the APPCC code of practice.

During January 2009, Michael decided that retirement was to be his next ‘job’ and the crematorium was bought by its present owners Steven & Gillian Black.

One of the important aspects about the service provided by Balmedie Pet Crematorium is that it is a family run business and as such we aim to provide a very personal service to each and every customer.

The services provided by Balmedie Pet Crematorium are regulated by SEPA and Animal Health.

Balmedie Pet Crematorium was founded in 1984 by Mr Michael Strachan. It was following the tragic loss of his own pet dog that Michael was inspired to establish a service for other pet lovers who had experienced the same loss as himself.

Over the past twenty five years the Pet Crematorium has become established within the Aberdeenshire area with its main focus being to provide an efficient and personal service to its customers, ensuring that everything has been done to minimise the sense of loss that is felt following the passing of a much loved pet.
